My Personal Experience with a Self Employed Remortgage

When I graduated from college, I felt very lucky that I was able to secure a job with a company that I felt I was going to like. While many of my friends also got jobs after college that they felt like they were going to enjoy and thrive in, there were plenty of people that I knew who also struggled to find the right job. It wasn’t because they weren’t qualified or didn’t have the right background; the job market has simply always been a very competitive place, and as a result, not everyone is always going to get what they want or expect.

When I started my career, I began with a lot of drive and enthusiasm. Throughout high school and college, I had always followed the mentality that if I consistently put in my best effort, the benefits I received would be well worth my hard work. Since I remained at the top of my class throughout not only high school, but also in college, I felt that my approach to school and I guess you could say life in general was right on track. Therefore, it only made sense for me to carry over the mentality to my professional life.

For the first couple of years, my previous view on how to be successful remained true. I put in a lot of hard work, and as a result, I received various promotions and raises over time. I will admit that I was worn out from all of the hard work that I was putting in, but because I was getting the desired results I expected, I couldn’t have been more happy.

However, towards the middle of my fifth year with this company, I started to notice a change. While I was still working just as hard as ever (if not harder), I noticed that I wasn’t moving up through the company like I had been before. After time continued to go on, I realized that I had hit a glass ceiling. While the carrot was still dangled in front of me, I realized that it was dangled behind a sheet of glass. Once I realized that my hard work was now going to waste, I started to get extremely discouraged about my professional life.

When I eventually hit the point where I truly felt that my skills and work ethic were no longer appreciated, I made the decision to quite my job. Although it was a hard one, it was the best decision I ever made. From that day on, I never looked back at the thought of working for someone else, and decided that I was going to become self employed and enjoy one hundred percent of the results of my hard work.

I have been self employed for quite a few years now, and I have never thought about going back to my previous life. I have done much better than I ever could have done working within the confines of another company, and also am a much happier person.

Recently, I decided I wanted to expand my business, and decided that my source for funding would be a self employed remortgage. I was worried that a self employed remortgage would be difficult to obtain, but I am happy to report that the process went much more smoothly than I expected. I was lucky enough not to encounter any bad surprises along the way, and was successfully able to obtain the funds I needed from my self employed remortgage for my business expansion (which is going really well I might add).
